Measles
Measles can affect anyone but is most common in children. Measles infects the respiratory tract and then spreads throughout the body. Symptoms include a high fever, cough, runny nose and a rash all over the body. Being vaccinated is the best way to prevent getting sick with measles or spreading it to other people.

Book Now
At our pharmacy, we offer comprehensive services for measles prevention and detection. Our trained staff perform thorough measles testing to ensure accurate diagnosis. In addition, we provide measles vaccination to protect against this highly contagious virus. Trust our pharmacy to keep you and your loved ones safe from measles.
Symptoms
The initial symptoms of measles develop around 10 days after you're infected.
These can include:
Cold-like symptoms, such as a runny nose, sneezing and a cough.
Sore, red eyes that may be sensitive to light.
A high temperature (fever), which may reach around 40C.
Small greyish-white spots on the inside of the cheeks.
A few days later, a red-brown blotchy rash will appear. This usually starts on the head or upper neck before spreading outwards to the rest of the body.
Treatment
Measles is a very contagious infection that causes a total-body skin rash and flu-like symptoms. Measles is rare in the United Kingdom thanks to widespread immunisation. But millions of cases happen worldwide every year. Measles is caused by a virus, so there's no specific medical treatment for it.
Prevention
The most effective way to prevent measles is to get vaccinated. The measles vaccine is usually given as part of the MMR (measles, mumps, and rubella) vaccine. Measles can also be tested for via a swab or blood test for confirmation of disease.
